ART CRU

The ART CRU Gallery in Berlin Mitte gives people with a disability the opportunity to exhibit and sell their works of art.

The Art Cru Gallery is located next to the Tadshikische Teestube and the Hummus&Friends on Oranienburger Straße in Berlin-Mitte. Here, works of art created by artists with a disability or psychiatric experience are exhibited.

Since 2008, ART CRU has been the only gallery in Berlin to exhibit and present so-called Outsider Art. Originally known as the “Art Brut”, Outsider Art refers to the art of people with mental or physical disabilities or people who have had experience with psychiatric stays. In the Kunsthof in Oranienburger Straße, exhibitions of contemporary art by “outsiders” are presented here in Berlin – Mitte. The gallery brings works by people with special experiences directly into the cheeky Berlin art scene.

JUMPBerlin says:

A refreshing and varied gallery. Here you are encouraged to think and ask questions. All of these works inspire a self-critical discourse and enrich the Berlin art scene. ART CRU is a role model for other cities and galleries.
