Bateau Ivre
One of the oldest diners in Berlin is Bateau Ivre (french: drunk boat), that has been in Kreuzberg for ages. It is a quaint corner pub among many others in this district, that provides you with a rich list of beverages and tremendous breakfast meals.
Located directly at Oranienstraße, you are confronted with an amazing panorama view of Heinrichplatz. The moment the sun emerges behind the clouds, a funny and colourful audience appears and becomes part of the typical Kreuzberg neighbourhood.
The inside was designed as a slightly shabby but cozy and homelike interior, that is filled with wooden furniture and stands out with its beautiful lampions in various shapes, that decorate the ceiling and spread warm light throughout the diner.
Breakfast with coffee and juice, delicious snacks and a long menu of drinks provide all that a Berlin heart can desire and will keep you happy until the late night hours.
JUMP Berlin‘s opinion:
This is a place, that has caught the Kreuzberg flair like no other: Get yourself a cold beer, sit down outside and turn your face to the sun – welcome to Berlin!
Bateau Ivre ensures an authentic Kreuzberg experience, a little tacky but cozy and optimal to start into a Berlin night with a cold beer and great food!
