This famous landmark is one of the most frequently visited tourist attractions in Berlin. It provides you with a beautiful panorama outlook over Berlin!
One of the most famous emblems of Berlin is the Berlin Victory Column (Siegessäule). It is a bronze statue of ‘Viktoria’ (the deified personification of victory in the Roman mythology), that rises up in the middle of the Tiergarten on a high column. The Victory Column is meant to commemorate the victories against Prussia and was built according to a design by Heinrich Strack from 1864 to 1873. This gorgeous construction stands in the middle of a large roundabout, that leads into various directions, such as Ernst-Reuter Platz, Brandenburger Tor, the KaDeWe and Kurfürstenstraße.
JUMP Berlin‘s opinion:
The 67m high Column is also colloquially called ‘Goldelse’ and counts as cultural heritage. A must-do when visiting Berlin, especially if you want to have breathtaking panorama view over the city! You only have to climb 285 stairs…
