Sommerlust
Sommerlust is a small and beautiful wagon café in the midst of the Schlosspark Niederschönhausen, Pankow, with an outlook on the castle Schönhausen. It was opened in August 2015 by owner Ann-Cathrin Rosenthal.
The close-to-nature location and refreshing environment, transport you outside the city to a place, where you are surrounded by a relaxed atmosphere with people reading a newspaper, sipping on their coffee, enjoying a savory piece of quiche, playing with their children and making conversation filled with laughter.
The café specialises in high quality coffee drinks, that are extracted right in front of you on an antique WEGA machine. For something to eat, you can choose between snacks like cookies, pretzels and croissants; savoury meals such as quiche, soups and Wiener sausages and sweet delicacies like chocolate fresh-cheese brownies, currant meringue pie and banana walnut cakes. The offer varies on a seasonal basis, but the service stays consistently friendly and attentive to all of your needs. Almost everything is freshly baked from a local bakery or cooked by the team members themselves.
Although the park invites you to take a stroll and enjoy this rare and peaceful spot of nature within the city, you can have quite the same experience while taking a seat in one of the wooden chairs beneath large sunshades.
JUMP Berlin‘s opinion:
This café is well beloved in Pankow and therefore overly crowded on sunny Sundays, so you should rather stop by during the week or even on a rainy day. This friendly team always looks forward to getting to know new people and is often up for a small chat. Our hint: The home-made mint lemonade is an absolute necessity on a hot day and a great mixture with the NY cheesecake!
A beautiful wagon café with view to Schönhausen castle. You’ll experience great service; delicious cakes, quiches, soups and cookies; exquisite coffee and a natural environment without a doubt!
