Das Volta

Hip and innovative restaurant in Wedding. Burgers, fried potatoes, Asian compositions, lunch bowls, vegetarian dishes and counting.

The incarnation of “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover”, Das Volta, located in an odd 70s-style glass pavilion right on the sidewalk of Brunnenstraße and with the appearance of an American diner, is perhaps the trendiest restaurant in Wedding at the moment. You can find it at Voltastraße U-Bahn.

It seems more like a Berlin underground-nightclub and radiates urbanism and industrialism, with its undisguised vent pipes, concrete floor, steel lights and large windows. In the centre of the room stands out a large rectangular bar that conceals the open kitchen in the back.

The offer includes both lunch (large bowls from 11.30am until 2.30pm) and dinner (snacks, burgers and drinks from 6pm until 12pm). The menu isn’t large but very diverse and imaginative. Try some of the juicy burgers, Asian and Russian delicacies or vegetarian compositions: There is definitely something for every taste!

JUMP Berlin’s opinion:

Amazing Volta burger, home-made lemonades and (!) locally brewed beer from the Weddinger Eschenbräu! Sadly we aren’t the only ones, who think that this location is great for social after-work get-together, so you’d best reserve in advance.
